We are an independent, boutique, moderate to conservative firm and there are two main components of our services: portfolio management and financial planning. For portfolios: we get to know your risk tolerance, we custom construct portfolios using investment grade individual stocks and bonds. For planning: we work to gain an understanding of your money’s purpose – your goals and hopes for the future. We want to be your financial confidant - to be there as a resource to answer financially related questions and to build a financial plan to provide you with peace of mind.
At SGK, we work as a team. You will be assigned a client service point of contact, you will have two portfolio mangers, and if you opt to use our planning services, we assign two planners to your team as well. You will have direct access to all of us. We are here to serve you and how often or how frequently we connect is up to you.
As a fee-only firm, we charge a fee percentage based on the amount of assets under management. Our fee is charged quarterly based on the value of your account(s).
Our managers each have over two decades of experience in managing money. Collectively, we decide which investments are best suited for our clients based on various market metrics. Our value approach emphasizes securities trading at a discount based on absolute and relative historical comparisons, industry competitiveness and other key factors. We have access to external research which supplements our internal process.
We use both quantitative and qualitative screens to focus on names which we believe will offer the best risk-adjusted returns. By monitoring fundamental characteristics such as cash flows and balance sheet strength, we believe we can identify holdings which will generate marketing-beating returns. Portfolios are adjusted based upon market conditions where we seek to take advantage of oversold conditions while pruning positions which have exceed our expectations. When our investment thesis is satisfied or no longer applicable, we look to replace such holdings with others that will provide more upside.
As part of our onboarding process, we ask you and any other account owners to fill out our risk profile questionnaire. Using your risk profile, we determine an appropriate risk-adjusted allocation of stocks and bonds.

Creating a financial plan is optional, but encouraged (and it is included in our management fee). Starting a plan involves gathering the information required to establish the building blocks - your assets, liabilities, insurance coverage, etc. and over time, we work to give you a comprehensive financial picture.
Above all else, we want to be your financial confidant. We are a resource for you to ask any financially related questions - education planning, buying/selling a home or business, understanding spending/saving picture, ensuring beneficiaries are up to date, etc. - we are here for you.
